Let me introduce myself. As your local organiser, I am here to co-ordinate events for our branch that includes members from Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Leicestershire and Bedfordshire.
A diary of events will be circulated in the early months of each year, and will include as many suggestions from you fellow Ducatisti.
Remember, this is our club and we will work together to get the best from it.
Diary of Events 2006 This year’s diary supports many of the DOC’s national events and would give us all at the Northamptonshire Branch the opportunity to meet other members from around the country and beyond. Last years events were enjoyable, but I felt that the turn-outs were an indication that I needed to look in a slightly different direction for this year’s calendar, and this is reflected below. Your comments and suggestions will be most welcome. As I have said before, this is our club, and I am here to help you fellow members get the best from it. 7 May Ace Café for Italian Day (Click here for a report on the 2006 event) We had this event in last year’s diary. A few of us went and it was a good day, with the opportunity of meeting others who like the Italian style of Motorcycle. Let’s try and set-up a meet with some of the other DOC GB branches at this event. 20-21 May BMF Show – Peterborough (DOC GB National event) The Mid-Anglian Branch do a good job with this one, and I thought it would be good to meet at the show, and support this event. It is my intention to be on the stand with the boys on both days, so how about coming to visit us. 28 May WSB Silverstone (Click here for a report on 2006) In order to vary things throughout the year, I have included 2 events at Silverstone. It is on the Midlands Branch doorstep, but don’t let that stop the rest of you DOC GB members joining the Midlands Branch on this event. Chris at Forza Italia has offered us the use of their car park, as long as we marshal the parking. Forza Italia is literally by the Main entrance to the circuit, so thanks Chris. 18 June Sammy Miller Museum Derek Ballinger has volunteered to organise this event. Thanks Derek. Journey down via the Fosse Way and the nice twisty roads from Swindon to Salisbury and on to Bournemouth. Then for a faster run coming back we could use the A34/M40/A43 or A361.
1-2 July ACU National Road Rally (DOC GB National event) The DOC is hoping to enter a team. Will you be in it? This national event is run by the ACU, and offers us many opportunities for good rides over the 2 days. You guys are spoilt for choice on this weekend, as the Moto GP is on the Sunday.
2 July Moto GP at Donington With the Desmosedici getting off to such a good start this year, let’s support our marque and join Ducati UK in the designated area. Register soon as places are limited. Why not join me? 18 July DOC Track Day – Mallory Park (DOC GB National event) Graham Stoppani runs this event for our club, and this year it is at Mallory Park. A great opportunity to let those wonderful machines loose and get Leicestershire reverberating to the Ducati heart beat. Contact Graham on treasurer@docgb.org to sign up for this one. 23 July Rhyader Blast, West Wales Malcolm Larby has volunteered to organise this event. Thanks Malcolm. Start from Leamington Spa and riding to Rhyader along some superb twisty roads, and back home again after a good feed and a rest in very pleasant Rhyader. 5-6 Aug DOC Northern Rally (DOC GB National event) A good opportunity for a weekend away with fellow Ducatisti. Good rides and good company go hand in hand on this event.
