Cholmondely Pageant of Power 2009

The Cholmondeley (pronounced Chumley) Pageant of Power is a multi-interest event held at Cholmondeley Castle, near Malpas, Cheshire, and was held on 18/19 July this year, and sponsored by Bentley.

It features everything from bikes to tanks, with aircraft, powerboats, racing cars and anything else with a motor being involved.

The DOC were pleased to be there in 2009 for the first time.

Not much of a pitch really, only about 50 feet of frontage.
Under the pergolas we had a few classic singles to start with.

Our crew was ably led by Steve Rose, with Alan Rawlinson helping....
....along with a few club members.
The central heating left something to be desired when the air got nippy though.
Proving that he is a well balanced drinker, with one in each hand, Steve soaks up more than just the atmosphere.
Apparently they were still there in the morning when woken....
...Alan needed to be caged for a bit until he got used to the light.
Outside, the DOC's display area was turning red.

Excellent material for an open air display.
Longer shot shows just how much room we had. Next year we just need a few more bikes to fill it out more.
The rest of the grounds were a mixture of all sorts of stuff...
...from classic Bentley's...
...to their Le Mans endurance car, which shows...
...a clear single seater pedigree when you look closely at the front end. More or less an F1 car with a roof.
A real F1 car is the 1970's Tyrell six-wheeler....
...and a carbon fibre Ferrari probably cost as much as the Castle.
Vintage 24hr racer stuff was also there in abundance, plus artillery, helicopters, jet skis....you name it!

Well, it was a hard day for some, and when you're in the same grounds as the aristocracy, you've got to keep your flunkey's working to show you're still the boss.

Rosey lords it up.
