As you are aware, there is no Motorcycle News Festival of Motorcycling at the Peterborough Arena this year as the site has been sold for building. This has left a hole in our motorcycling calendars, when we would normally have gone around the show looking for riding kit bargains and sample some of the new Ducati machinery on test rides.
As organisers of the MCN Show for the club over the last few years, the Nene Valley Branch decided to create a NEW rally for club members to fill the gap and provide the best possible opportunity for us all to meet up in May. After making local enquiries, a great new venue for May has been found, which is close to the A1 in the village of Greetham, near Oakham. The Greetham Community Centre, last year, was the venue for a very large and successful Triumph Owners Club Rally so we know we have found a very suitable site.
Many of you already attend the Southern and Northern Rallies and there is The Club’s very popular Welsh Rally too! Using the successful format of these rallies, and adding a flavour of the MCN Show, we arrived at a new format for the Nene Valley Rally. With the help of local Ducati dealerships, we have secured the Ducati UK Roadshow for members to be able to book a test ride at the rally on the new Ducati models that will be touring the dealerships this year. The Roadshow bikes will include:
- Multistrada V4 Rally
- Multistrada V4S Grand Tour
- DesertX
- Hypermotard 698 Mono RVE
- Streetfighter V2
- Monster
- Supersport S
- Scrambler Icon
- Diavel V4
- Panigale V2

PLUS a number of additional “Dealer” Demo bikes!
In addition to the Demo-Rides, there will also be a number of different routes organised for Ride-outs throughout the weekend (Friday afternoon to Sunday Morning) to tempt everyone, whether it will be a shorter ride taking in the beautiful Rutland Water and the surrounding countryside or locations further afield for those who would want to stretch their own bikes “legs”!.
Camping on site on the well-tended Community Centre field, is £15.00 each for a tent/van etc for the weekend to include rally admission, Plus £5.00 for any additional person over 16 years old. For anyone local, coming to the rally without camping or staying in a local hotel, rally admission is just £5.00pp but this must also be booked in advance. There is also a commemorative Rally Mug (see attached photograph) for pre-order which is just £7.00 and the last date for ordering mugs is 31st March). There are 24hr Toilets and Showers in the Community Centre buildings, a large paved patio area with picnic tables as well as the large open grass area. There is even a Pétanque Piste and skateboard area on site!!
There is, of course, the bar serving a full range of local and traditional beers, wines, spirits etc.
Breakfasts and evening meals, from the Community Centre kitchen, will also be available to purchase at around £7.00 - £8.00 (details to follow closer to the rally date) and of course we will have a FREE tea and coffee station. (Bring your own mug).
The success of our new rally will rely on everyone pre-booking. Anyone turning up on the day, who has not pre-booked, will have to be turned away!
Everyone who has pre-booked, including pre-payment, will be sent a “uniquely coded Rally Admission Pass” which will have to be shown on entry to the site.
